Although I will not be able to sing with the Chorale Bel Canto for their annual fundraiser, I did promise to contribute something for their silent auction. So, I made a quick copy of the Philippians illumination that I had done. I kept it pretty much the same as the first version, except that I did some of the capitals in red, and changed the colors a bit on the bottom scroll work.
The piece is 8x10; ink, gouache and gold leaf on hemp paper.
He upholds the cause of the oppressed
and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets prisoners free,
the Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,
the Lord loves the righteous.
and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets prisoners free,
the Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,
the Lord loves the righteous.
— Psalm 146:5-10
